Fort Washington Capital Partners Group (FW Capital), based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is the institutional private equity division of Fort Washington Investment Advisors, Inc. Fort Washington was formed in 1990 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Western and Southern Life Insurance Company (Western & Southern) and is a member of the Western & Southern Financial Group (W&SFG). Established in 1888, Western & Southern has been investing in private equity since 1984.1 In 1999, Fort Washington expanded its private equity investment program to include unaffiliated third party clients through a subsidiary, FW Capital.
FW Capital formed its first fund-of-funds offering in 1999. FW Capital currently manages seven diversified fund-of-funds and three secondary funds. FW Capital also provides private equity advisory services to W&SFG. As of December 31, 2016, these mandates included $3.3 billion2 in private equity commitments for public and private institutions. As of December 31, 2016, Fort Washington and its subsidiaries managed approximately $48.9 billion in affiliated and external assets in private equity, fixed income, and public equity. Of the total assets, approximately $12.5 billion is external.
