Philosophy

Fort Washington Investment Advisors management team for the ultra short duration strategy invests in inefficiently priced securities, sectors and maturities within the short-term fixed income market. The strategy focuses on securities with fewer natural buyers or instruments overlooked by traditional money market and intermediate bond fund managers. The team's research and expertise helps capitalize on the resulting inefficiency within these segments of the fixed income market, thereby producing more attractive risk/return characteristics.

Process

The ultra short duration strategy emphasizes mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities. The difficulty in analyzing these instruments produces inefficiencies and makes them attractive for active management. Our sector specialists employ a detailed and disciplined research process to evaluate and select those opportunities providing the most attractive risk/return characteristics. This unique approach helps produce a better return profile than the benchmark indices without unduly increasing the portfolio's risk.

Objective

The ultra short duration strategy seeks to significantly outperform cash alternatives such as money market instruments, while adding just a small degree of price volatility.
